Needles:
US 4 (3.5mm) circular needles, or as required to meet gauge; 32/80cm or similar length recommended AND an extra set of circular needles of equal or smaller gauge

Gauge:
23 sts and 46 rows = 4/10cm in garter stitch before blocking
22 sts and 36 rows = 4/10cm in garter stitch after blocking
(NOTE: If wet-blocking a swatch, you can pin it in place, but do not stretch it aggressively like you would for a shawl. Gauge is not crucial, but it will affect finished dimensions and yardage.)

Notions:
Required: 2 removable stitch markers, waste yarn, tapestry needle
Optional: blocking pins, wires, and mats

Fingering weight yarn in 5 colors; 3 dark (C1-C3) and 2 light (C4-C5) solid or semi-solids recommended; suggested yardage includes 20% more than what was used in the sample to account for swatching and gauge differences

The sample for this design uses SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock. This project also works great with stash and leftover yarns! Included is information on arranging your colors for beautiful results.

Colour advice: This design was created to highlight five colors of solid or semi solid fingering weight gradient yarn. This can be a set of one hue OR a variety of colors (such as the sample) that include 3 dark tones and 2 light tones. If you are stash diving or using leftovers, take a picture of your colors with a black/white filter and arrange them with C1-C3 as the dark colors and C4-C5 as the light colors (see photo to the right). If you have 3 light colors and 2 dark colors, I recommend arranging them in the opposite order.
Here is the amount needed for each color. The amounts include my recommendation for 20% more that was used in the sample.
