Known to most in the English speaking jewelry world as French Wire – this is a thin, coiled wire. It is used in goldwork and other embroidery techniques, such as Zardosi – which is a form of embroidery that came to India from Persia. It literally translates to gold embroidery (zar + dozi). In India, this coiled wire is called Dabka (also spelled Dapka, Dubka), and means a spring type of thread or coiled thin wire – which is pretty spot on. Use to create lines, edges, borders and boundaries in your bead embroidery. You can also create texture with short pieces. You may be familiar with French Wire at the fine coil wire that is used to conceal thread and beading wire in finishing stringing and knotting – as a finishing touch next to the clasp, and this is that wire and can be used that way as well.

Made in Pakistan. 1mm (Approx 5m)
